FR23 “Ocean” exhibition
01 févr. 2023First, a cultural mediator from the "Halle aux Sucres" presented the "Ocean" exhibition, a travelling exhibition in Europe, based on photos. Different topics are addressed : European maritime history, the role of the ocean for the future of the planet, the blue economy, science...
The students were then divided into groups : each group had to carry out an activity based on the exhibition (some in French, others in English) : synthesis, kahoot ! or games.
Students created 6 games :
-the 1st consisted in reading the definition of activities taking place in the port in order to make the public guess them as quickly as possible -the 2nd consisted in asking questions about the ocean and men -the 3rd was a timeline about the discovery of marine species to be put in order -the 4th was about marine animals : the aim was to sort cards on which were indicated animals still alive, animals in danger of extinction and imaginary animals -the 5th was a memory game about fish : the aim was to associate the name of a fish with the shape of its scales -the 6th was a card game about sources of pollution classified according to whether they were bacteriological or chemical. The aim was to place these cards in the correct transmission environments (industrial, agricultural, domestic, marine pollution).
The students presented the exhibition and animated the games to two types of audience :
-firstly, during the welcome week for the project's partner schools on February 3rd, 2023, where they led workshops in English with young people from Sicily, Ireland, Sweden and Poland
-secondly, during the school's open day on February 6th, 2023, where they ran workshops in French with groups of secondary school students
