01 juin 2023After being dropped off by their host families, the students were able to explore the Canal Olimpic site in Castelldefels. Esther, the Spanish Erasmus coordinator, gave some background information: the facility was built in 1990, in preparation for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. In the Olympic Canal, the students, in groups of 10-11 have to manage to paddle together on the same paddle surf board. The are given instructions on how to paddle and how to coordinate. After being fitted with water-appropriate clothing, the students were equipped with life jackets, and went to pick up and launch large paddles. They were also given an explanation of the basic rules and safety instructions to follow in order to enjoy this activity in complete safety. Then they set off on the canal.
Thanks to this activity the students were able to practice their sense of balance and coordination, while having fun.
