The students work in the woodworking room.
With their pen pals, they had to make a photo flag holder on a wooden plate and in Plexiglas.
First, they had to reproduce a map of Ireland on the wooden plate, using a carbon paper transfer. The wooden part is then cut and sanded.
The students use machine tools for this, which they manipulate with the help of the teacher.
They then take the marks on the Plexiglas sheet, round them off with a file, and drill them out.
Finally, they bend them using a heating wire. The photo support is now ready.
All that remained was to fix the Plexiglas support to the wooden plate and add 2 flags: one Irish and one French.
In many cases, this was the first time the students had used these large machine tools, and they had been made aware of the safety rules involved.

They followed a precise sequence of instructions to make the flag holder, and had to demonstrate speed and precision in their creations.
In the end, they were very proud to have created this object themselves.
