IR24 MC - Irish breakfast and activities
18 mars 2024For our first welcome morning, our Irish partners proposed a typical Irish breakfast served by their correspondents.
A full Irish breakfast includes :
Slices of bacon. In Ireland, these are called "rashers“, sausages, usually made from pork, also known as "bangers".
Eggs, baked beans, mushrooms, hash browns, black pudding and white pudding complete this breakfast. All accompanied by tea, of course.
As they eat, they discuss their eating habits.
Irish secondary schools have classrooms dedicated to teaching cookery.
After breakfast, several ice-breaker activities are proposed to the students.
A “petit bac game” to enable French students to work on vocabulary.
With the help of their correspondents, French students then complete posters on which they write down what they know about Saint Patrick's Day. After an oral presentation of their work, a short film explains the origins of this Irish feast. Saint Patrick is the founder of Christianity in Ireland. He was kidnapped by pirates in the 4th century and sold into slavery to an Irish druid. He later became a shepherd. A few years later, he escaped to the Normandy coast and studied theology and becomes a priest. Following this experience, in 411 he returned to Ireland to evangelize the local people. Since then, Saint Patrick's death has been celebrated on March 17, 461.
