PL24 MC - School visit
22 avr. 2024French students discover the school and the Polish school system.
The Liceum Ogólnoksztatcace im. Wtadystawa Jagielly is a old and big building. Polish students take the guided tour explaining that the establishment offers several subjects to learn : Polish, English, Spanish, Italian, mathematics, biology, physics and chemistry, history, geography, sport, music, art and even a theatre club, a cheerleader club and a basket club. There is also an international stream, the IB program, which allows some students to take courses in English and become bilingual more quickly. Polish students also present the Polish school system. School in Poland starts on 1 September and ends at the end of May for the final year students and in June for the others. Children between the ages of 6 and 16 are subject to compulsory education or apprenticeship. Schooling is free, but there are some fee-paying schools. Thus, the Polish education system is divided into several stages: extracurricular education (from the age of 3), primary education (6 years), secondary education (6 years) and higher education. The education system has undergone many reforms and since 2012 Poland has entered the top 10 of the PISA ranking.
The French students are impressed by the size of the building, its organisation by subject, and the variety of documents on display tracing the history of the school, the projects carried out there and the prizes won.
The guided tour shows that the Polish students are very proud of their school, which they know very well in terms of its origins, its history, the teaching it offers and the topicality of the projects carried out there
