First, the students followed a projection of Billy Elliott at the Studio 43 (local movie theater in Dunkerque), movie illustrating the values of diversity, inclusion, human dignity, freedom and excellence.

Then, they were brought back to our high school for a debate focusing on European and Olympic values, as well as the topics mentioned in the movie, such as diversity and inclusion.

First, we debated the Olympic values (Excellence, Respect, Friendship): set in groups (of maximum 6), the students had to define said values in their own words and then debate the importance of each in their private lives, as well as in society in general.
Then, we continued with the European values (Human dignity, Freedom, Equality, Rule of Law and Human rights): the same work method was applied, this time linking more of these values to the movie that had been shown to the students.
Finally, we finished on the importance of preserving these values in today’s world.

The students seemed interested in the movie, for the most part. Asking them on the way back, apparently no student had previously seen it.

The debate was rather slow to boot, but some students took avidly part in it, participating and reacting very actively.

After the debate, some of them came to my desk to continue debating some of the issues we had addressed, showing me their interests in said topics.
