FR25 PSLL Lille City Tour

At the beginning of the day, once they stepped foot into Lille, the students were paired with their European counterparts, and divided into two groups. They were handed a sheet with questions and goals that they had to fill throughout their visit of the city, such as pictures that had to be taken, and questions about details, or the history of the city. They were led through a tour in the streets of Lille, and were able to learn about the history of the city, its architecture, and see important buildings and landmarks such as the Opera, the Beffry, the Grand Place and more. They were able to discover the differences and similarities between the countries, and learn about some historical facts, like the cannonballs in the walls of some building.  They were lucky to visit the city at the same time that the exhibit Lille 3000 “Fiesta” was still displayed in the streets, one of the artworks still seeable near the Grand Place, inside the “Vieille Bourse” .They could learn throughout the day, and their nvisit in the Museum of Fine Arts about the importance of arts and culture to the European Metropole of Lille. 

They had to communicate  and help one another, to fill in one questionnaire per pair of students, hence working on their communication and English skills throughout the visit. 

Once the city tour had been completed, they were offered the opportunity to spend some free time around the city, for a well-deserved lunch break, and to see some other parts of the city they might not have been able to enjoy during the city tour. 

If at first, the students were a bit shy to interact with their Erasmus counterparts, they warmed up to each other along the trip, and mostly during lunch period. They learned about each other, and worked on their overall communication, all while getting accustomed with Lille, one of the most famous and culturally rich cities in the north of France.
