FR23 Guided City tour in Dunkirk
01 févr. 2023The students were put in different groups and taken to different sites of Dunkirk of both historical and cultural value. The groups were of mixed countries and strarted on different places as there were several groups.e place Jean Bart (Jean Bart was the local hero) where they also got a questionaire « Dunkerque yesterday and today » to fill in. They were then guided by students of the lycée (second year) around town on foot.
Some of the sites: the Belfry of St Eloi, the beautiful St Eloi’s church, the Town hall, the Place Jean Bart, the chapel Notre Dame des Dunes.
The students learned a lot about the history of Dunkirk and were both attentive and interested. They got to know each other for the first time in an unformal and easy way. The students learned that Dunkirk is an important port and had a huge role during World War 2 and that Jean Bart was a pirate at the time of Louis XIV and saved Dunkirk so he is considered as a hero.
