FR23 MC Video of Champions Values
01 mars 2023Women suffer frequent discrimination in their access to, and practice of, both amateur and professional sport – discrimination which is contrary to Council of Europe principles. First, students along with their partners have prepared a sketch to highlight the issue of gender discrimination in sports. It was to show how this discrimination manifests itself in the persistence of stereotyping, the lack of a back-up and support structure for sportswomen and for girls who show potential in their sport and the difficulty of reconciling work/sport and family life. After, each team role played the chosen situation. It was a joint decision that the role play should be recorded and later followed by 15-20 minutes discussion. It turned out to be a great experience and all the participating members showed their best effort.
Schools are temples of democracy and ideal places to learn about citizenship and fundamental values along with projects such as this one. They call attention for issues that have to be discussed in order to achieve equality of opportunities for all. The achievement of equality between women and men in sports activities require the definition of standards and activities that enable mentalities and practices to be changed. It is in this field that such activities can fully play its role in the promotion of equality between women and men.
Students understood how their actions can affect others, develop resilience and set personal goals.
