ITS25 CAE - Welcome to Italy by icebreaking

The activity begins in class of the “Liceo Statale Quintiliano” where the teacher of English introduced each student to the other. An interaction took place between all participants. It s an interesting activity to discover each partner, the country, the habits and to analyse the specificities, differences and similarities. The 8 Italian and 8 French students had the occasion to debate and discuss. It was funny to share the moment as an icebreaking. Then, we visited the school and the quarter around it. But the surprise was the presentation of the chorale with 30 singers.

After an introduction of the principal to welcome us, they sang “Ode à la joie” firstly and the anthems of the two countries.

Quintiliano ‘s school have 863 students and 50 classes. There are different sectors: linguistic, scientific and work on inclusion of disabled young people. We took part in a lesson of arts with autistic teenagers. They create big posters with many colors to put on the walls in every corridors of the school. On each, you can find key words about inclusion. Then, we went to the second building liceo scientifico e delle scienze umane “O.M. Corbino” located 500 meters from the first place. This big tour finished with a snack lunch for everyone.
The conditions are perfect to spend the week all together. Each of us feel in really good conditions and can’t be lost.

All the students who had already met for the second time were happy to meet the new school really different than frenchlycee. Italian teachers and students welcomed in a very friendly and cultural way. To discover the country by some discussions was a bonus to understand in which atmosphere they spend their daylifes.

Students really appreciated this chorale moment and to explore the places inside and outside of the school. They asked questions to learn more and some of students took notes too. Visiting in groups and pairs made them more confident in using the English language. They shared the responsibilities too. The occasion to visit the area in autonomy was really good because of a really different city and commercial zone with the sea closed to the school.
