IR24 PSLL - Hurling match and hurling demo

The PE teacher, player of the Wexford Hurling team, first presented the G.A.A association for the promotion of Irish sports and culture. 

The Gaelic Athlétic Association in an Irish international amateur sporting and cultural organisation. The association also promotes Irish dancing and cultural music.

It has more  than 500,00 members worldwide. Since the foundaton in the late 19th century, the association has had a major influence in the promotion of cultural and sporting life. Gaelic Football and Hurling are yhe most promotedsports in Ireland in the organisation.

After an explanation of the rules and the main technical gestures, the students were able to practice Hurling in theirturn. 

Hurling is an outdoor team of ancient Gaelic and Irish origin and is the fastest fiel sport in the world. It also played on a pitchot fifteen players. This sport has been played for over 3000 years.

A good stricke with a hurl can propel the ball over 150 Km/h in speed and 110 meters in distance.

The Gaelic Football was Invented by Maurice Davin. The very first game of Gaelic Football under GAA rules wasplayed near Callan, Co Kilkenny in February 1885

IT is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team’s goal ( 3 pts) or between two upright post above the goal and over a crossbar 2,5 metres (8 ft in) above the ground (1 pt).

The students really enjoyed playing Gaelic football and hurling. To do this, they had to step out of their comfort zone. 

It was a moment of real complicity and cohesion between the students and their correspondents.
