IR24 CAE - Celebration of Irish Culture and Language
18 mars 2024The students participated in different workshops which allowed them to discover Irish culture from different aspects.
The first workshop consisted of the discovery of the Irish language, the national language and the first official language of the State of Ireland. With the help of their correspondents, they translated simple sentences into French, English and Gaelic and practiced pronouncing them.
They then discovered different musical instruments found in traditional Irish music.
The bodhran: this is a small drum from Ireland played with a stick called a “tipper”. This percussion instrument often accompanies Irish folk music, such as the jig.
The Celtic harp: it has been used since ancient times to play tunes in Celtic countries.
The Irish flute (called tin whistle)
The activity ended with a traditional Irish dance class: Traditional Step Dancing.
A irish teacher taught the students the steps to reproduce in order to dance a jig together, accompanied by musicians.

Students shared a very festive and lively moment which strengthened the cohesion of the group
