ITR25 INC PSLL Welcome to Giuseppe Peano (Presentation school, week, city)

This activity welcomes the international group to Lycée / Istituto Giuseppe Peano and marks the official opening of the week. It is the first moment when French and Italian students, together with their teachers and school staff, meet the full group and begin to discover the place where they will be working and learning together. The session aims to create a warm atmosphere, help everyone feel at ease, and introduce the themes that will guide the programme: cultural heritage, sustainable development, and European citizenship. Students are invited to explore the school building, to play tennis table, its learning spaces, and its daily routines. They learn about the school’s values, educational projects, and the spirit of cooperation that shapes life at Peano. This visit helps international participants understand how the week will be organised, which activities they will take part, and who they can turn to if they need help or information. It also gives them the chance to meet classmates, teachers, and staff in an informal and friendly setting.
Each school presents itself through a short presentation using PowerPoint, videos of the Italian school, photos, or creative materials chosen by the students about Roma and highlights of the monuments. These presentations usually include information about their school and city, their environment, local culture and traditions, and how their community protects cultural heritage. This introductory activity not only provides essential practical information but also encourages curiosity. Working in teams, they answer timed questions, which supports memory, participation, and cooperation while discovering Roman heritage. It helps students feel welcomed, recognised, and ready to participate actively in an international learning experience throughout the week. Then coffee break was a good moment to continue the discussions.

The students have to know each other a bit more and learn about each country’s culture, traditions, history and specialties. In that way the students know a bit more about each other which led to further discussions in between the nationalities. They also practice listening and understanding English when presenting. Students feel more confident and comfortable in their new environment and know what will happen during the week. They gain a first understanding of Giuseppe Peano School. The activity creates a positive group dynamic from the beginning, encouraging cooperation, respect, and curiosity throughout the entire programme.
