SPM26 DC Logo Design Workshop for a European Youth Congress
29 janv. 2026This activity focuses on creativity, visual communication and civic engagement through a design-based project linked to the European Youth Congress. First, students discuss the fundamental values of the European Union and are asked to find concrete examples of these values in everyday life and in European history. Each student chooses the values they wish to convey : the values they choose most are freedom, solidarity, diversity and peace. Then, by creating a logo, they explore how visual symbols can represent shared values, identity and collective projects. So, they design a circular digital logo (using Canva on their smartphones) to be used as a badge for the European Youth Congress. Throughout the creative process, they develop visual ideas, reflect on symbolism and aim to produce a clear, meaningful, and effective design. Finally, each student presents their design to their peers, explaining the concept, choices, and message behind the logo. Through peer discussion and feedback, students critically evaluate and appreciate different designs, compare their perspectives, and refine their understanding of visual communication.
The activity concludes with a collective voting process to select the logo that will be produced as an official badge. This final step reinforces democratic participation, peer learning, and shared decision-making, while giving students the satisfaction of contributing to a tangible collective outcome.
The winning logo is turned into a real badge that each student makes and can keep.
This creative and fun activity encourages students to reflect on the founding values of the EU and aims to strengthen their sense of belonging to European citizenship. It helps them understand the challenges of institutional visual communication and how a logo can convey an identity, values and a civic or political message.
