FR23 MC - City Tour of Dunkirk
12 nov. 2023Students from France and Sweden were divided into mixed groups and embarked on a guided tour around Dunkirk, exploring its notable historical and cultural sites.
Each group, starting from different locations due to the abundance of sites to visit, was led on foot by second-year students from the local lycee. They visited several key landmarks, including the Belfry of St Eloi, St Eloi’s Church, the Town Hall, Place Jean Bart, and the Chapel Notre Dame des Dunes. At each site, the student guides provided detailed descriptions of the location's historical importance, offering an immersive learning experience for the participants.
The tour concluded with a visit to the Mairie de Dunkerque, where students had the opportunity to explore this important municipal building.
The exercise yielded positive results; the students had an enjoyable experience, learned significant information about Dunkirk, and had the opportunity to socialize in a relaxed atmosphere.
A challenge was the street noise affecting the guide's audibility, but this turned into a learning experience when some students came up with a solution by using their mobile phones to send transcripts of the information to those who were standing too far away from the guide, ensuring that everyone could access the information effectively.
