FR23 MSTE - Timeline about energies
12 nov. 2023The students were first divided into six groups. Each one was working on six forms of energy: thermal, electrical, mechanical, chemical, light and nuclear. All groups were asked to find inventions or evets and theirdates related to those forms of the Energy. They wrote the name of the invention or event on the front of a paper and the date on the back. They had to search for information on the Internet in order to create a collective timeline on energy.
They had to compare the countries how and how much they use it. Teachers, the speakers from the conference earlier and people working at « la salle au sucre » helped the students. They were given an hour to create and then an hour for presentations. Each group then stood on a podium and presented and showedtheir poster to the rest of the students. Each group stressed the advantages and disadvantages of each source of energy.
The students learned about different forms of the energy. They discovered many inventions and events aboutthe energy. They reflected and discussed on the positive or negative impact on the environment and biodiversity.
The students learnt about what we can do to reduce the pollution, creative energy, reducing CO2, renewable energy and how every citizen can be involved by doing small things on a daily basis. They created posters and learnt to collaborate with each other. They also practiced listening and understanding English.
