PL24 CAE - Winter animals in the zoo
24 févr. 2024The students travel to Lodz, Poland's 4th largest city, to visit the “Orientarium Zoo Lodz", Europe's most modern zoo dedicated to the flora and fauna of south-east Asia. The solutions used allow the animals to be kept in large spaces in combination with other species and in a diversified environment. Visitors can observe the animals from 3 angles: underwater, on land and from above.
As soon as the students enter the Orientarium, a zoo professional gives safety instructions to be followed with the animals and explains the precautions to be taken when touching them.
Firstly, students are given a free tour of the zoo, which is home to 35 species of terrestrial animals and 180 species of fish.
They are then given a guided tour in English, focusing in particular on the Indian elephants, which have 2,000 m² of floor space and a swimming pool, and the orangutans and crocodiles, which are housed in a part of the zoo where the temperature remains between 24 and 26 degrees and the humidity reaches 80%.
Finally they go on to the underwater tunnel (26 metres long, 3 million litres of water) where more than 1,300 fish of 180 different species swim).
The students have a great time together in the zoo.
The guide gives them information about the animals and their environment as well as telling anecdotes about them.
