GR24 EC Collaboration together in the classroom
05 oct. 2024During their visit to the Greek school, high school students took part in an educational activity to deepen their knowledge of the historical sites they had explored. They were divided into five mixed groups, each assigned a different location they had visited: the Archaeological Museum of Veria, the Museum of Royal Tombs of Aigai, the Polycentric Museum of Aigai, the School of Aristotle, the Tombs of Krises and Anthemion, and Loutraki.
Each group researched the history, significance, and unique features of their site using their notes, additional reading materials, and group discussions. This collaborative work helped them improve their teamwork and communication skills while gaining a better appreciation of Greek heritage.
After completing their research, the groups chose how to present their findings. Some made slide presentations, while others preferred creative methods like role-playing, posters, or short videos. This freedom encouraged creativity and allowed every student to contribute according to their strengths.
The presentations took place in the classrooms of the Greek school. Each group shared what they had learned about their site’s history and importance. These presentations were followed by questions and discussions, which enriched the experience and helped students practice their English speaking skills.
This activity combined research, creativity, and teamwork, giving students a meaningful way to connect with the places they visited. It also helped them develop responsibility and pride in their work while creating lasting memories and a deeper understanding of Greek history and culture.
The students felt proud and excited after their presentations, appreciating the opportunity to share what they had learned. Many expressed surprise at how much they discovered and enjoyed working together as a team.
