LT26 MSTE Fab Lab activity at Kaunas Library

The students met at the library, a modern, pleasant, bright, and welcoming building where one could easily spend hours.

They went to its fab lab where the French students and their exchange partners decorated t-shirts using heat transfer.

They chose pieces of special, laminated paper, considered the shape of their design, and then cut the sheet according to their desired shape. Next, they placed their t-shirt, with their design covered by a protective paper sheet, under a heat press at 160°C.

Then, a transparent plastic film was removed to reveal the final product.

The students were able to give free rein to their creativity, used their dexterity to achieve results that met their expectations, and discovered a simple technical process.

Some expressed their love for the city of Kaunas, others showed their passion for their sport or for animals, and still others drew sparkling or swirling geometric shapes.

Each student thus leaves with a souvenir of the city that they can display this summer and not today in the streets of Kaunas because it is        -25°C there.

This activity was very motivating for the students.

They actively participated in creating a personal design they liked on their t-shirts.

At the beginning of the activity, some students didn't have many ideas, but by observing and discussing with their classmates, they managed to overcome this hurdle.

Ideas often don't come easily, and it takes effort to bring them to the surface, this is one of the things the students realized.
